POPULATION, LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT IN 2021
1. Population
The average population of Binh Dinh province in 2021 was estimated at
1,508,322 persons, an increase of 20,419 persons, equivalent to an expansion
of 1,372% compared to that in 2020, of which the urban population was
620,809 persons, accounting for 41.16%; the rural population reached 887,513
persons, making up 58.84%; the male population was 742,865 persons, sharing
49.25%; the female population attained 765,457 persons, contributing 50.75%.
Quy Nhon city gained the largest population of 293,263 persons; An Lao
district had the lowest population of 28,106 persons. The population density in

2021 reached 248.6 persons/km ; of which the districts, towns and cities with

population density of over 450 persons/km were Quy Nhon city (1,025

persons/km ), Tuy Phuoc district (828.6 persons/km ), An Nhon town (725
2
2
persons/km ) and Hoai Nhon town (503.3 people/km ), Van Canh district had
2
the lowest population density of 35.2 persons/km in the province.

The population of Binh Dinh province ranked 20 in the country, 4 in

the North Central and Central Coast regions, and 2 in the Central Key
Economic Zone.
The total fertility rate in 2021 reached 2.22 children per woman. The
crude birth rate was 14.5‰; the crude death rate was 7.4‰; the natural
increase rate was 7.1‰. The infant mortality rate was 14.3‰; the under-5-
children mortality rate was 21.5‰. The average life expectancy of the
population in Binh Dinh province in 2021 was 73.47 years, of which it was
70.88 years for males and 76.21 years for females.
2. Labor and employment
The labor force aged 15 and over in 2021 was estimated at 834,137
persons, going down by 18,322 persons compared to that in 2020. The
employed labor force aged 15 and over working in the economic activitites in
2021 was estimated at 814,058 persons, a decrease of 17,340 persons compared
to that in 2020.
In 2021, the rate of trained workers aged 15 years and over reached
24.5%, of which it was 37.63% in urban areas and 15.83% in rural areas.
The unemployment rate of the labor force at the working age in 2021 was
2.75%, of which it was 3.77% in the urban areas and 2.02% in the rural areas.
The underemployment rate of the labor force at the working age in 2021 was
2.16%, of which the rate in the urban and rural areas was 2.61% and 1.84%,
respectively.
